Choosing the right fire for your home involves matching your tastes and working with the layout of the house. There are many different types of fire available these days and it can be hard to decide which one will best suit your home. Electric fires and gas fires offer greater convenience, but real fires are still perhaps the most popular.
One advantage of a real fire is that you may well have a ready supply of fuel in your garden in the form of trees. Cut and then seasoned, wood from trees serves burns well and is essentially free. A wood fire will produce a lot of heat.
Some people find it annoying to clean up after a real fire, as they do create a lot of mess. Gas fires can be controlled very easily and offer a simple, clean source of heat. Modern gas fires look very good compared to those of yesteryear. Almost all homes have a gas supply, meaning they are fairly straightforward to install, although significant work is required in some houses.
Electric fires were often looked down upon in years gone by as they were perceived as being cheap and unattractive, but that isn't really the case any more. No fire is easier to operate than an electric one and many even have remote controls. Perhaps the greatest strength of the electric fire is that you don't need a chimney - you can install one almost anywhere.
